What a feast. The Singapore Garden Festival was a delight in every sense.
Exhibitors from all over the world built gardens to excite every imagination. The exhibits were divided into several different categories.
The Landscape Gardens featured big show gardens, mostly geared towards outdoor living. But because this is a tropical theme the outdoor living style was serene, romantic and very beautiful.
The three gardens below give a feel of the tropical sensual style that prevailed.
Because here I am dealing with the modern small garden, ‘The Modernist Garden’ by Joe Palimeno was probably the highlight for me. I am in his camp – gardens are to delight, give joy and serenity. Above all they are for the people who inhabit their space. This garden meets all those things for me. It is to live in.
The Fantasy Gardens were just as amazing. But these were not geared towards outdoor living, but rather told a story or made a social statement.
Other categories dealt with Balcony Gardens, amazing Floral Designs in huge stage sets with music and lighting and not least the Singapore Orchid Show with exhibits from many parts of Asia.
I’ll take you through each of these and more as the weeks go on.
