Modern Small Garden brings the best of modern garden design ideas from gardens around the world. Many of the ideas come from gardens designed by the best garden designers for Garden Shows. Others are from private and public gardens around the world. Wherever we travel we have camera in hand to check out what’s interesting, beautiful, calming, exciting or simply fun. We are a team of three.
I love gardens and always have. Partly this is around plants which I have been involved in since I studied biology at school but mostly it is about the way we live in our homes today. I have been designing gardens and living in gardens designed by others for a long time now.
However big or small, a garden brings another way to live. I love that a really good garden takes the way we live outside and adds living space to any home.
So whether I’m looking at the wide open spaces which are the Australian Garden in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, a stylish suburban backyard such as ‘Surge’ designed by the Bay Road Nursery for the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show in April 2012 or a tiny urban balcony for an apartment designed by Chew Sook Choon for the Singapore Garden Festival, I’m entranced.
Today I live in an apartment and don’t have a garden of my own. Sad, so I indulge in my passions for gardens, travel and writing through my websites. I visit and photograph heaps of gardens – over 250 this year and have lots more in mind for next year. This year the gardens I have visited are in Australia (Melbourne and Brisbane) and Singapore. Next year – the world…
Lynne and David
Lynne and David live in Britain and cover the garden world in that part of the universe for Modern Small Garden. David has a background in design and marketing and is a photographer and Lynne has a wealth of knowledge around plants and gardens and is the Editor. They make a great team. They do have a garden and last year’s visit to Chelsea gave Lynne the inspiration to make changes.
Hopefully we meet up in a garden somewhere sometime soon.
